Dec Pic Project 2010

Every year for the last 3 years I’ve done the December Picture Project or “Dec Pic Project” where I take a photo of myself everyday of december.  It all started when people complained that my only profile pic was the one of me peeking out of the trash can, which I am highly fond of.

Also in addition I started doing this project every 6 months, you can find the June Pic Project announcement here.

Though the project also prompted me to get a new camera that year which I still use.  Though with having an iPhone4 it’s almost a toss up between using the two.  I’d still like to have a nice DSLR like a Canon 7D or even a Canon 5D MarkII and I’d even settle for a Canon T2i (there was an amazing deal on it….anyone want to buy me an early xmas gift?)

So for the next 31 days follow along with the Dec Pic Project

I’ll be updating both my Flickr and my Facebook with the pics.  Enjoy.

You Thought the Matrix was Cool…

This is a cross post from EthanNewberry.com posted by permission.

First a few thoughts.  I’d highly suggest watching BOTH videos first before reading on.  If you don’t want any *spoilers first click here to watch a short video then click here for a 7min video.  Then read on.  Or just click through to the post.

I’m not sure who found Alex Roman first me or Ethan.  I retweeted a tweet from Guy Kawasaki, and then Ethan saw my tweet then directed me to his blog which he had just posted.  Maybe Ethan can clear it up in the comments.

Playground Games

This post is a response (in sorts) to a little video posted by Barrett Garese (@syptap).  He has since written a followup article and David Nett has also chimed in on the discussion.  Taryn O’Neill had also posted her own thoughts about the state of web video content creation here.  Please watch the above mentioned video first. UPDATE: Zadi Diaz has added her thoughts here. (I’m sure there will be more to add too).  UPDATE: A TubeFilter article and a blog post by Ben Brusell and a great podcast called New Mediacracy did an episode called “Episode 18: The One About “IndieTV” Versus “Immersive Entertainment”

Creative Writing: ala Video Games

This is a cross post from Bitmob.com (a great video game site, that blends traditional writers with community writers) where I entered a contest.  The contest was to write about one of your favorite xbox360 games in one of 7 genres.  I picked Left 4 Dead 2 in the shooters category.  My post was titled: “A tale of life, liberty and an auto pump shotgun or Best Xbox 360 Game – Shooter – Left 4 Dead 2“.  Enjoy.  Click below to read.

Inception, New York

Inception by far has been the best film I’ve seen so far this year. I very strongly suggest you see it before reading on further. As this post will draw from themes and ideas from the movie. I will try and stay as spoiler free but for the most part you will have to have seen both movies that I talk about during this post, Inception and Synecdoche, New York.

Picture Project

If you don’t know for the past few years I have done the “December Picture Project”.  It all started because a lot of my friends were really tired of my singular profile picture, which I love by the way, of me peeking out of a trash can.

To Be or Not To Be

Many of you know I’m involved in the web video world, mostly from the perspective of behind the camera side. I’ve been doing PA (production assistant) work, been a 2nd assistant director (AD), and a 1st AD as well, in addition to editing and some writing and some producing.  All of these have been great learning experiences and I have really enjoyed them.  In addition to all the things listed, there is one more thing I enjoy doing, and even some of my web friends don’t know about this:

I want to act.

You can find my headshots/resume/reel here.
