You Thought the Matrix was Cool…

This is a cross post from EthanNewberry.com posted by permission.

First a few thoughts.  I’d highly suggest watching BOTH videos first before reading on.  If you don’t want any *spoilers first click here to watch a short video then click here for a 7min video.  Then read on.  Or just click through to the post.

I’m not sure who found Alex Roman first me or Ethan.  I retweeted a tweet from Guy Kawasaki, and then Ethan saw my tweet then directed me to his blog which he had just posted.  Maybe Ethan can clear it up in the comments.

Everything below is from Ethan.  I highly encourage to read the interview from Area and Autodesk linked below as well.

Watch this short film titled, “The Third & The Seventh”.  Then prepare yourself for what I’m about to tell you…

It is all, 100% CGI. Created within a computer by the skilled hands and mind of Alex Roman. Rendered with precision and patience from a damn graphics processor.  Insane.  This is the kind of work that destroys the “uncanny valley”.  Can you tell any single frame of this piece from it’s real life counterpart? I doubt it. If you want proof, check out this article that Area and Autodesk (Maya 3D) did with Alex (not his real name) HERE.

Here’s even a follow up commercial the same artist did for a countertop company or something…again, 100% CG-fuckin’-I.
